11 MayMy ADB Employment Testing Experience

Today I took the employment testing, the first stage of the ADB’s recruitment process. I got there 15 minutes before 2:00pm and met other applicants. As we chatted, I learned that we are all for the Operations Assistant position, but for different departments. No competition at all, unless there were and are other applicants scheduled on other dates for the same position I am applying for.

The HR assistant arrived at the main lobby and summoned us to the testing room. She gave a small talk about the employment process and possible benefits we can get as ADB staff. Then, she facilitated the examinations. The first part was English, Abstract, and Math. It was an easy test, but the time allocated for each category was short. It seemed that it was really meant to be unfinished. I doubt my other co-applicants accomplished all the questions.

The second part was to test the applicant’s knowledge and skills in Microsoft Excel and Word. I got 88% for Excel and 87% for Word. 70% is the passing grade.

The third and last part was the typing skills. Results said I can type 44 wpm, with 98% accuracy. Not bad, right? However, I still don’t want to expect. Others might got higher scores than mine. I’ll just have to wait for the e-mail from ADB 2-3 weeks from now, if I passed or not.

At 3:55pm, the day at the ADB ended with a relief. I am having good vibes now. I think not being pressured to get this job helped me to be more confident in taking the employment test. No expectations mean no frustrations. If it’s really for me, then it will be. I just pray and wish everything will fall in its proper places.

I took the same exams 2 years ago. I think we had exactly the same exam. You’re right in saying that the time limit was really tough. I got almost perfect scores in the MS Word and Excel. My typing rate was also high. The HR said they will email us soon if we pass and send a regret letter if failed. Sadly, have not heard from them. But I’m still hoping.

salary pa lang, perks na.. a dream company.. sa grounds pa lng ng ADB, parang nasa ibang region of the world ka na and the place speaks on how you should aim to work for them, it would give you more than stability in life.. employment at ADB, dapat wala kang relative for you to be qualified.. i hope one day, I can work for that company.
